Virtual Learning Support Center - COVID-19 Community Support

Finding alternatives to support virtual learning due to COVID-19 can be overwhelming.  The cost of in home Learning Pods with small groups can be very expensive, not to mention the rotating of students in various homes can pose some health concerns.  This is why AKCCL is offering a virtual school support center that will provide an economical, safe, and parent/teacher support focused option for students. Please see addition information, and the registration button that states register your child button below.

Program Details

AKCCL’s Virtual Support Center offers a safe, clean, spacious environment for students needing technical support and supervised care due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, and the shift from a classroom school setting to virtual instruction with their classroom teachers. This program offers support for working parents that may be unable to stay home and help guide their child’s learning due to inflexible employment, lack of technical skills, or any hindrance prohibiting them from to helping students stay on task throughout the school day.

At first glance, this program will help families maintain a daily schedule that would be similar in structure to a normal work day or school a day. Our goal is to be a resource to families, students, and teachers during this pandemic providing technical support and supervised care to students, while indirectly supporting both the teacher and parent efforts to bridge any learning delays that may come about due to a new virtual setting. All teaching from 7:30 until 3:00 will be delivered virtually by the student's assigned school teacher. AKCCL staff will not take the place of the student's teacher, but rather coordinate and support in the learning space through technical assistance, class activities management, and supervision. If such advantages are available to students, it is our belief that students will has a better chance of progressing despite the current pandemic.

The center ‘s capacity is 100 to 125 people; however, AKCCL’s service capacity will only be 25 to 30 students—First Come First Served. The program will begin accepting students on Wednesday, August 19th, to allow parents to learn teacher exceptions and receive any information AKCCL will need to know in order to provide support to their student.
